The In Between

In between a call to missions, going two YWAM schools +  two outreaches, being called to Thailand, trying to figure out what in the world that looks like, and following passions, in between is joy and servanthood and life unto Jesus, just the same.

My great Lord is teaching me that in the between, there is growth, there is prep, there is joy, and it is well.

I never want my pursuit of a calling to steal from the beauty of the present. On the other hand, I don't want my enjoyment of the present to harden my heart toward an unknown future.

Nevertheless, in betweens are inevitable. How will I and how will you live to the fullest in the big things and dreams? In the little moments?

The in between.

One thing I know, as believers we can take something into every season. Abiding in Jesus. Dwelling with God. Daily.

Hear some words of Jesus and let them sink,

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in Him, He it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:4-5

Every where I go, I hope to abide.

Indeed dear heart, let abiding be in the prayer closet. Let it be on your knees. Let in be in the reading of Scripture on your lap.

Yet also, let abiding be in the daily things.

Let abiding be a walk by the river. Let it be in the reviewing and admiring of the details of the rippled water and the reflection of light off its surface.

Let it be in the walking of a dog, a glorious, loving, beautiful and unique creature that the Lord made for our enjoyment. Let your abiding with Jesus be in that very moment.

Let it be in the sipping of coffee or tea as you sit and ponder the works of the Lord.

In all these things, let us abide.

Always in expectation and always in thankfulness.

Let our abiding be more about the Giver with which we abide in, rather than the gifts and requests we present at His feet.

In all the in betweens of life. In the big and the small. In the midst of it all,

Let us abide.
